Mechanical Analysis
- Static testing
- Dynamic testing
Static Testing
Standard tensile/compressive tests can be performed according to ASTM D638 and D695 for low- and high-stiffness polymers.
Parameters measured/calculated during static testing include:
- Elastic modulus (E)
- Poisson’s ratio (ν)
- Yield strength
- Ultimate tensile strength
- Work to failure
We perform testing in compliance with the following ASTM standards:
- D638 Standard test method for tensile properties of plastics
- D695 Standard test method for compressive properties of rigid plastics
Dynamic Testing
- Dynamic testing can be performed with a dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA) in various configurations, including tension, compression, 3 point bend, single cantilever or dual cantilever.
- Compression tests can be run while the sample is hydrated.
- All tests can be temperature controlled.
- Parameters measured/calculated during dynamic testing include:
- Storage modulus (E’)
- Loss modulus (E”)
- Glass transition temperature
- Other viscoelastic properties can be determined through creep and stress relaxation tests.
