Static Testing

Standard tensile/compressive tests can be performed according to ASTM D638 and D695 for low- and high-stiffness polymers.

Parameters measured/calculated during static testing include:

  • Elastic modulus (E)
  • Poisson’s ratio (ν)
  • Yield strength
  • Ultimate tensile strength
  • Work to failure

We perform testing in compliance with the following ASTM standards:

  • D638 Standard test method for tensile properties of plastics
  • D695 Standard test method for compressive properties of rigid plastics

Dynamic Testing

  • Dynamic testing can be performed with a dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA) in various configurations, including tension, compression, 3 point bend, single cantilever or dual cantilever.
  • Compression tests can be run while the sample is hydrated.
  • All tests can be temperature controlled.
  • Parameters measured/calculated during dynamic testing include:
    • Storage modulus (E’)
    • Loss modulus (E”)
    • Glass transition temperature
  • Other viscoelastic properties can be determined through creep and stress relaxation tests.
